Creativity is NOT the same as ART

Or being CREATIVE vs being ARTISTIC

“I wish I was creative.”
“I don’t have a creative bone in my body.”

People often say that to me when they hear about my work.

And then I have to disagree… because they are most likely mixing up being CREATIVE with being an ARTIST.

And the two are very different.

Being good at drawing, painting, sculpture and the like is about being ARTISTIC.

CREATIVITY is something else. It comes in many forms and doesn’t necessarily have anything to do with ART.

Writing, singing, cooking, gardening, choosing the perfect gift, creating stunning table settings, finding a new solution to a difficult problem, the list goes on… can all be forms of creative expression.

My work is about CREATIVITY, and only sometimes also about art.
I might ask you to play with coloured pens and do some drawing but it is all about the PROCESS, not the result.

In the BEYOND THE MIRROR project, we will do interactive creative activities that will allow you to explore; to connect with what is important about your body image for you; and to help me understand how to interpret that in my creative way (my art).

To clarify…
I use creative process to help you explore and reconnect with how you feel about your body. You are likely to also (re)discover your own creativity, and be able to use it in your own life to improve your world.

What I like to call EVERYDAY CREATIVITY.

And you do NOT have to be an artist for this to work for you.
